Installing solar-powered Community RO drinking water plants and household sanitary toilets to end water-borne illnesses in fluoride-affected villages.
Programme Overview & Objectives
Safe drinking water is a fundamental human right. In arid and fluoride-contaminated belts, villagers struggle with bone deformities and water-borne pathogens. Jal Dhara establishes community-managed solar RO water dispensing kiosks providing WHO-standard drinking water at nominal maintenance cost of 10 paise per litre.
The project also builds eco-sanitation toilets in rural schools and conducts extensive behavioural change workshops on handwashing and community hygiene.
Key Activities & Interventions
Construction of 35 solar RO water plants, installation of 420 school handwashing stations, community Water User Committees (WUC) training.
Measurable Outcomes & Field Impact
Zero water-borne diarrhoea outbreaks reported in targeted villages; daily drinking water access secured for 65,000+ residents; saved 2 hours of daily water fetching time for village women.
