Swavalamban - Women Skill Training & Micro-Enterprise
From a Daily Wage Labourer to an Independent Boutique Owner
Once struggling to afford two meals a day, Pooja completed our 6-month tailoring course and now employs three other women in her village boutique.
Pooja Devi, a 28-year-old mother of two from Alwar district, was struggling to feed her family on irregular daily wage work after her husband met with an accident. When she enrolled in Samarpan's Swavalamban Skill Centre, she had never touched a sewing machine.
Under our master instructors, she mastered garment cutting, modern blouse tailoring, and suit design. After graduation, our micro-enterprise cell helped her secure a subsidized sewing machine. Today, Pooja runs her own flourishing shop "Pooja Boutique", earning upwards of Rs 14,000 monthly and sending both her children to an English medium school.
Measurable Impact: Earns Rs 14,000/month and employs 3 rural women
